Million dollar homepage on track to make a million

The university student who set up a webpage to make a million dollars to help pay for his tuition has almost reached his goal.

Alew Tew, 21, of Cricklade, Wiltshire, set up the site in August with the idea of selling 1,000,000 pixels for $1 each.

So far, as of writing, Tew has sold 911,900 pixels leaving him just 88,100 left to complete his goal.

On Tew's latest blog posting he says: “The final goal is definitely within reach - inevitable, even. Which is a crazy thing, to think that I'm going to have made 1 million dollars - in just a few months”.

The site which has been surrounded by a media storm across the globe works by dividing the homepage into 10,000 boxes, each made up of 100 pixels.

Companies or individuals are invited to buy one or more box for $100 each - $1 a pixel - and cover it with a logo. When a websurfer clicks on the logo he is transported to the company or person's website.

An earlier blog posting by Alex Tew predicts the end to be some time in January.

We will keep you posted.
