BBC launches learning service for 5 to 16 year olds

30 January 2006 23:55 GMT / By Stuart Miles

Not that I am personally ready for this yet with my little one, but the BBC has launched a new broadband learning service for 5 to 16 year olds.

The service, called BBC Jam is a mix between curriculum-based activities, video games, audio and animation and aims to making learning informative and fun.

The BBC aims to build the service over the next two years to make it the beeb's most comprehensive education service.

The service will start with Maths and English programmes for five to seven year olds, Science for seven to nine year olds, Geography for seven to 11 year olds, French for 11 to 14 year olds and Business Studies for 14 to 16 year olds.

Other subjects will continue to be added until September 2008.
