Commodore to take on mobile phone game market

20 February 2006 17:28 GMT / By Stuart Miles

The name that once dominated the computer games market with the C64 is hoping to emulate the same success on your mobile.

The company has announced that it is to enter the mobile phone games market later this year.

Commodore has teamed up with The Content Factory to roll-out a line of touch screen computers in mobile phone and game retailers across Europe during 2006.

The plan is to open new channels for delivering digital media content, which can include video, music, games and business applications for mobile phones and handheld devices.

“We believe that the revolution in handheld media devices demand a variety of simple, user-friendly ways for consumers to download content. We believe that offering this content in retail stores on a 17 inch touch screen will help encourage consumers to try mobile games as well as other types of content”, explains Bala Keilman, CEO of Commodore Gaming.

Commodore has yet to announce which titles it will be making available - but we can't wait to bash the hell out of our keypad with classics like World Games.
