Rip Curl launches all-girls Learn To Surf Days

18 May 2006 15:29 GMT / By Chris Hall

Since 2002, world leading surf brand, Rip Curl has introduced over 10,000 girls across Europe to surfing and the beach lifestyle with their Girls Go Surfing programme. Building on the hugely popular pan-European Learn to Surf initiative, Rip Curl is back for 2006, adding music and lifestyle elements to the programme with the “Rip Curl Girls Tour” presented by Davidoff Cool Water.

Starting in Portugal on the 10th July, finishing in the UK on the 31st August the tour will visit some of Europe’s finest beaches across Italy, Spain, Portugal, UK and Germany (Ed - Germany has beaches?).

Rip Curl’s elite girls team of pro surfers, fitness/beauty specialists and Music artists will travel between beaches in full rock & roll style via a dedicated double-decker tour bus. The Girls Tour bus will also double–up as the sleeping quarters and home for the entire 2 month tour making this event the first fully mobile celebration of girls surfing and the outdoor lifestyle in Europe.

The UK leg of the Tour will hit six beaches starting in Newquay on the 12/13th August and ending in Bournemouth on the 30th. The event will provide girls of all ages with the chance to improve their surfing technique or try surfing for the first time.

All girls participating will receive a free gift bag packed with the latest Davidoff Cool Water and Rip Curl gifts. Girls entering in Newquay will also automatically be in with a chance of winning the Davidoff Cool Water Game “Best New Rider” award and a prize of £1000. This award will be judged by Rip Curl pro surfer/model Elise Garrigue.
