Dell releases Dimension 3100c budget desktop

Solid specifications make the new models good value for money

For small business owners on a tight budget, the new Dimension 3100c from Dell may be just the thing to get you up and running, as the basic model costs just £149 (ex VAT and shipping).

The barebones system includes a 2.80GHz Intel Celeron D Processor 336, Windows XP Home Edition, 512MB DDR2 RAM, and an 80GB Serial ATA Hard Drive.

An Integrated 10/100 NIC network card is also included, as well as a 16x DVD-ROM drive.

Two other models are available, starting at £249 and £299. The top-of-the-line model comes standard with an Intel Pentium 4 Processor 521 with HT technology (2.80 GHz), Windows XP Home Edition, a 17-inch Analogue Flat Panel Monitor, an integrated network card, and a 48x CD-RW/DVD Combo Drive.

The middle-priced model, called "Advanced" features a 3.06GHz Intel Celeron D Processor 346, Windows XP Professional, and a 160GB hard drive, plus a 17-inch CRT Colour monitor and a 48x CD-RW/DVD Combo Drive.
