Dixons group to sell its shares in The Link to O2

21 June 2006 14:01 GMT / By Amber Maitland

Dixons Stores Group (DSG) is to sell its share in The Link stores to O2 in a deal worth £30 million.

DSG owns a 60% stake in The Link, while O2 has the remaining shares.

The sale is another move by DSG to concentrate more on online retail than on highstreet retail.

In April, Dixons shops turned into Currys, while Dixons continued to operate as a retailer online.

A spokesperson for O2 said that some The Link stores would be rebranded, while others in certain areas would continue be run independently as The Link, at least for the foreseeable future.

The date of exchange on the deal is still several weeks away.
