Apple says it will show off Leopard at WWDC New OS gets debut in San Fran

Apple has confirmed it will be showing off features of its latest operating system dubbed "Leopard" at the company's annual Worldwide Developers Conference in August in San Francisco.

CEO Steve Jobs will headline a team of Apple executives that will release detailed information about the next operating system due out either later this year or early 2007.

The news and features announced are likely to garner even more interest than normal due to the closeness of Apple's operating systems launch with Microsoft's much talked about and next operating system; Windows Vista, also due out in January.

Apple has said that at the conference it will "outline best practices on developing Universal applications that take advantage of the performance of Intel-based Macs, including special sessions on performance optimization using Apple software development tools".

The conference will run for 5 days from the 7 August 2006.
