Government says home births put your baby and partner at risk
Greater risk of dying than those delivered in hospitals

Choosing to have your baby at home may put your baby and your partner at risk according to new guidelines published by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (Nice).
Several studies, which are highlighted in draft guidelines, suggest that babies born at home may be at greater risk of dying than those delivered in hospitals.
The Government agency calls for births in different settings to be monitored and for women to be given more information about the risks and benefits so that they can make informed decisions.
Ninety per cent of births take place in hospital and only 2% at home.
