Nikon has made available a trial version of Capture NX, its image workflow, editing, and RAW conversion software.
The software edits JPEG, TIFF, and Nikon RAW (NEF) format images in a simple and easy-to-use interface.
Patented U Point technology lets photographers quickly enhance specific areas of the picture selectively, without the use of masks, selections, or layers.
Although professionals are encouraged to try out the software for manipulating and converting their NEF files, the program can also be used by less advanced, amateur photographers for improving JPEG images.
The Automatic Red-Eye Correction tool eliminates red-eye, while underexposed images can be saved with the D-Lighting feature.
Other features of the software include powerful batch processing, colour management features, Distortion Correction enhancement, and non-destructive image editing.
A 30-day free trial is available from Nikon USA; the full version is expected to go on sale for $149.99, or as an upgrade for $89.95. The upgrade is available for Nikon Capture 4 users at Nikon Mall.
