Star Trek fans can rejoice in the news that the TV series is being revived for a new videogame that will feature the voices of five of the series' captains.

"Star Trek: Legacy" which will hit shelves in October, sees players take on the role of Admiral for a fleet of warships that battle it out in space in a single-player campaign or linked to others online.

It will combine storylines from all five Star Trek series: the original, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and Enterprise.

The five captains who will reprise their roles include William Shatner, Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks from "Deep Space Nine", Kate Mulgrew from "Voyager" and Scott Bakula from "Enterprise".

The video game should plug the gap between the end last year of "Star Trek: Enterprise" and a feature film planned for 2008.

William Shatner told Reuters, "I couldn't imagine someone else playing Captain Kirk, even in a video game, so I kind of got a little territorial".

Other Star Trek-themed games are planned for handheld devices and linked, online PCs.
