Nintendo won't charge for online gaming with Wii

More rumours about Nintendo’s next-generation gaming console are filtering through.

The Wii is now reportedly going to cost $250 when it’s finally released in November, according to reports.

In an interview with Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo USA’s President and CEO, USA Today wheedled out of him that Nintendo doesn’t plan to charge a subscription fee for online gaming.

He said that in Nintendo’s view, “…online gaming [is] essentially an enhanced way to enjoy the gaming experience and drive more sales of hardware and software”.

This is a departure from a trend started by Microsoft with its Xbox Live option, which charges for some online gaming.
