CBS to advertise new shows with Bluetooth billboards

Trailers to be streamed to PDAs and mobiles

NEWS: 25 August 2006 12:54 GMT by Amber Maitland

US television network CBS has come up with a different way to market its upcoming fall lineup of TV shows.

New York’s Grand Central Station will host Bluetooth-enabled billboards that beam show clips and trailers to people’s mobiles and PDAs.

The five prime-time shows to be promoted this way are “Shark”, “Smith”, “Jericho”, “The Class”, and “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation”,

With the advent of PVRs and Tivo, television networks are having to come up with more cunning ways of advertising their content, as viewers simply don’t watch televised advertising.
