IFA 2006: German customs confiscates all SanDisk music players Dispute with Sisvel over patents means SanDisk illegally imported the devices into Germany

Soon after Pocket-lint was introduced to SanDisk’s newest Sansa players, German customs swooped down on the SanDisk stand to confiscate every one of their music devices.
The confiscation comes as a result of a suit that Italian company Sisvel, who owns many patents for MPEG1 and MPEG2 technology, is bringing against companies that haven't licensed rights for the technology that they incorporate into their devices.
Sisvel had obtained an import ban on certain goods from companies that have been violating its rights.
By launching a new Sansa player at IFA and bringing stock into Germany, SanDisk went too far, and thus has had all the players taken away.
SanDisk was keen to showcase its new C200 music player, which is tiny and holds 1GB or 2GB of music or photos.
