Canon's Bubble Jet i965: World's fastest photo prints with highest resolution
Canon, leader in photographic and imaging technology, is pleased to announce the launch of the fastest and highest resolution photo printer - the 4800 x 2400 dpi 1 Bubble Jet i 965. Canon's latest professional series six- ink printer produces a 2400dpi full A4 photo in approximately 60 seconds - less than half the time taken by its nearest rival. A 4”x 6” print takes just 21 seconds, making this the ideal printer for demanding photographers. The i965 is compliant with the new direct photo print industry standard , PictBridge.
The i965's remarkable speed results from patented technologies that allow Canon to get more ink on the page in less time and with more accuracy. Semi-conductor manufacturing techniques are used to create the highest density print head, delivering extremely small droplets from the smallest diameter Micro-Nozzles. The result is a 3072 nozzle print head capable of ejecting up to 73.7 million 2-picolitre (pl) droplets per second. The exacting precision afforded by this advanced MicroFine Droplet Technology™ combines with the six- ink, 1/6 density photo ink system to create grain-free prints with unsurpassed clarity, contrast, colour range and smoothness of tone.

Leaves competition in its wake
The secret to the i965's incomparable speed lies in the print head. Unlike other manufacturers who must assemble their print heads from a multitude of components, Canon employ a proprietary etching process similar to that used in semi-conductor manufacture. The result is smaller nozzles, greater nozzle density and longer print heads. The extremely precise 10-micron diameter nozzles are almost half the diameter of Canon's nearest rival and are placed seven times closer together. Minuscule 2pl droplets are ejected with unsurpassed frequency and accuracy. Combined, these features produce a print head that puts more ink down on the page in less time - for record breaking print speeds.
Ultimate photo quality
The world's finest print quality results from a combination of factors , including 1/6 density light inks, use of six- colour inks, and extremely small droplet size. High colour inks guarantee vivid colours and high contrast output. While competitors are forced to use a mix of small and large droplet sizes to overcome speed limitations , the i965 only uses 2pl droplets, which are fired at the paper wi th unrivalled force, precision and consistency. This control gives Canon the edge in resolution of fine detail, enhancing image depth and eliminating sandy textures evident in lesser brand devices.
Packed with new photo printing features
The i965's advanced print head enables ultra fast borderless printing on A4, 5”x 7” and 4”x 6” media. A new covered paper tray has been added to the auto sheet feed to hold and protect 4”x 6” photo paper, allowing users to switch printing modes without swapping paper. Printing directly onto compatible CD-R/DVDs is now possible with the inclusion of a detachable CD-R printing unit.
The Bubble Jet i965 also supports the new industry standard PictBridge protocol. Any compliant camera or camcorder can now print directly to the printer via a USB cable connection, regardless of brand and with no need for a PC.

Building on the popularity amo ngst business users of its predecessor, the Bubble Jet i850, the Bubble Jet i865 has an additional black ink for higher contrast and astonishing quality photo printing. Quality and t echnology
Integrated circuited manufacturing techniques have been employed to produce a print head capable of delivering a print quality that in many cases exceeds the results of more costly six ink systems of competitors. Micro-Nozzles in the i865 print head have an ejection aperture measuring just 10 microns in diameter, 40% smaller than the nearest competitor. This narrow opening, in tandem with Canon's short nozzle ejection system, creates consistent ink droplet sizes of 2 picolitres that are fired at the paper with force and precision so every ink drop is exactly the same size and travels in exactly the right direction. A borderless 4”x 6” photo print on Canon's Photo Paper Pro (PR-101) takes only 50 seconds, while a full A4 photo can be printed in just 100 seconds. This is also the fastest printer for monochrome & colour in its class, printing up to 23ppm mono and 16ppm colour. Advanced Precision Color Distribution technology allows high speed bi-directional printing, giving print speeds up to 2.3ppm for A4 full colour page. Single Ink technology reduces waste by ensuring individual colours are only replaced when they have completely run out.

Optional office features
The i865 can be shared across a network via Pricom network adapters. An Auto Duplex Printing Unit (DPU-10) is available to allow printing on both sides of the paper without manual intervention. An optional Paper-Feed Cassette (PFC-10) attaches to the bottom of the printer, increasing plain paper capacity by 250 sheets to 400 sheets.

The two new models have been launched in line with Canon's position at the forefront of the drive towards complete PictBridge compatibility. Any PictBridge compliant digital camera can connect and print directly to these compatible printers, regardless of brand and without the need for a PC. The Bubble Jet i455 and i475D replace the Bubble Jet i450 and i470D respectively.
With a print head nozzle density up to seven times that of competing brands and a nozzle apperture size 40% smaller than Canon's nearest rival, the i455 and i475D use a 2pl droplet size to deliver unsurpassed 4800x1200 dpi* professional photo quality as standard. The same technology that delivers tiny 2pl ink droplets and the highest nozzle density also makes these easily the fastest printers in their class - both models boast incredible 18ppm mono and 12 ppm colour print speeds.

Multi-brand, multi-media printing
As well as supporting the new industry standard PictBridge protocol, both printers are backward compatible with Canon's Bubble Jet Direct. This allows direct print from any compatible Canon digital camera or digital video camcorder. The i475D has a built in four-in-one card slot to accept CompactFlash® cards and Microdrive™, SmartMedia™, Sony Memory Stick® and SecureDigital cards from any digital camera. Even xD-Picture cards can be supported with use of an adaptor.
Unsurpassed print quality
Traditional manufacturing techniques assemble print heads from multiple layers and components. The inherent inaccuracies in this process limit print head length, nozzle size and density. Canon's engineers revolutionised the manufacturing process and now use patented semiconductor manufacturing techniques to laser etch ultra-high precision advanced MicroFine Droplet Technology™ print heads with the world's smallest nozzles and the world's highest nozzle density (up to seven times that of lesser brands). 10-micron diameter Micro-Nozzles deliver consistent 2pl droplet size with precision and speed for accurate ink placement on to paper. Photo prints without the wait
Both the i455 and i475D boast the best photo print speeds in their class. This is particularly evident in borderless printing where nozzle density plays a decisive role. Both printers offer 18ppm mono and 12ppm colour print speed, and can produce a 4”x 6” photo print in approximately 62 seconds. Photo Noise Reduction mode improves noise in dark and solid colour areas sometimes found on digital camera images, while Vivid Photo technology enhances colours - particularly in areas of blues and greens.

Extra features

Single Ink technology
Each of the Bubble Jet i905D's six ink colours is stored in an individually replaceable tank. To eliminate waste, only the exhausted ink tank needs to be replaced. Users are warned with a pop up window on their computer and on the printer's LCD when a particular colour is running low, and the printer will not start to print a page if there is insufficient ink to complete the print job.
