V-Dub’s new Touareg 4x4 has been revealed ahead of the Paris Motor Show - and it doesn’t look much different from the last one.
The biggest difference is at the front - a chrome-y new grille along with reshaped bonnet and bumper gives the new Touareg a rather startled expression. A new rear bumper and pipes give the back end a bit of a lift, too.
Under the skin, it’ll feature new and revised technology, including advanced anti-lock brakes and electronic stability programme (ESP). ABSPlus promises to shorten the distances by up to 20% on loose driving surfaces, while the ESP now has Active Rollover Protection (ARP), rain brake support, fading brake support and understeer control logic, which all sounds jolly useful.
A choice of four engines will be available: a 3.6 litre V6 285bhp petrol unit and three diesels (2.5 litre TDI, 3.0 litre V6 TDI and massive 5 litre V10 TDI. The 2.5-litre TDI will be available as standard with a six-speed manual gearbox and optional Tiptronic automatic transmission, while the remainder will have Tiptronic as standard.
