Apple has updated its U2-edition iPod to bring it in line with its latest 5.5 model.

The screen is brighter, and more importantly, it boasts the bigger battery that provides 14 hours of audio playback and at least 3.5 hours for video.

It looks the same as the older version, with a black front with red clickwheel, and the signatures of the band members on the back.

It costs $279 in the US, which is less than the original $329 pricetag, but still $30 more than regular iPods. However, Apple does through in 30 minutes of U2 music videos, so perhaps that justifies it in some people’s eyes.

Now Apple, tell us, how long will it be until you join Bono’s Red campaign and release a special edition for that worthy cause?
