Marvel and Sega to bring Iron Man to videogames

But not for a while

NEWS: 6 November 2006 16:11 GMT by Amber Maitland

Sega is teaming up with Marvel to bring Iron Man to next-generation consoles after it receives big-screen treatment.

Marvel is self-financing a film based on the comic book hero Iron Man, due for release on 2 May 2008 and starring Robert Downey Jr and Terence Howard. Sega has now signed up to produce a series of official games for the next-gen consoles.

Marvel has recently seen its superheroes united in the videogame Marvel: Ultimate Alliance.

“The Iron Man history is filled with compelling and intriguing characters and stories, and with the power of the next-gen systems, Sega will be bringing these characters to life like never before,” said Simon Jeffery, President and COO, Sega of America.

“Sega is a powerful force in the video game space and has always been on the cutting edge of the industry. We are very excited to be bringing Iron Man to theatres in 2008 and to team with a great partner to simultaneously introduce Iron Man to the videogame world”, added David Maisel, Executive VP at Marvel.
