Virgin has unveiled the fruits of its merger with ntl Telewest in the form of its new branding – Virgin Media.

Virgin Media, which launches at the beginning of 2007, has a new logo that features a lens flare effect and the same (or nearly identical) font as the Virgin logo.

The union between the two companies has already produced a quadplay bundled of broadband, mobile and landline service, and digital TV for £40 a month. However, the official launch of the rebranded company will cement the operational changes underway, supported by a £5 million investment to improve customer care.

After the re-brand, ntl Telewest will stop providing service under its brand name, but Virgin Mobile will continue as part of Virgin Media. The emphasis for the new company lies in customer care. “While work remains to be done between now and the re-brand, our decision to announce its name and logo today is a reflection of my confidence that we’re well on the way to creating an organisation that can live up to this vision by consistently putting the consumer first”, said Steve Burch, president and CEO of ntl.
