Canon launches three new scanners

Canon this morning has announced the launch of three new scanners; the CanoScan 9950F, the CanoScan 4200 and the CanoScan 8400.
The flagship of the range is the 9950F that is capable of 4800 x 9600 dpi 48 bit colour depth. According to Canon the 9950F is the world's first flat-bed scanner to offer 30-frame capacity for 35mm filmstrip.
The 9950F is equipped with a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed / IEEE1394 FireWire connection and promised a preview time of 3.6 seconds. The scanner also offers a new holder for scanning up to 12 mounted slides and a 120 roll film guide with a double slot for loading frames of various sizes up to 6 x 22cm. The CanoScan 4200F offers 3200 x 6400 dpi scans and offers 48 bit colour depth. Again powered by USB 2 the preview time is 2.6 seconds, a film guide built into the FAU (film adapter unit) offers transparency scanning. The The CanoScan 4200F will also be available from November 2004 for £99.
The CanoScan 8400F offers 3200 x 6400 dpi CCD sensor, a 12-frame FAU (Film Adaptor Unit). Replacing the CanoScan 8000F, the 8400F is designed for maximum productivity with its new super fast scan engine. The CanoScan 8400F will be available from November 2004 for £179
