The Game Boy might be coming to the end of its life after the next holiday season, says Reggie Fils-Aime.
The Nintendo of America President told reporters at the Reuters Media Summit in New York that the company's focus is directed more toward the handheld DS series of consoles and the newly-launched Wii.
The Game Boy has enough life in it to last another holiday sales season, however. “We think that the Game Boy Advance certainly has at least one more holiday season left in it”, said Fils-Aime.
“For us, it continues to be a great stepping stone for 5-, 6-, 7-year-old consumers to have their first great handheld gaming experience and then transition right into DS.”
Fils-Aime added that Nintendo sales of the Game Boy Advance were just as good as those of the DS on Black Friday, the major shopping day after Thanksgiving in the US.
