Ubisoft reveal details of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2

New location sees the Ghosts fighting it out on US soil

NEWS: 11 December 2006 11:23 GMT by Amber Maitland

Ubisoft's Tom Clancy series of videogames is about to get a new addition to the family in the form of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2.

This next installment is designed for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PSP, and Windows PC, and Ubisoft are hoping to build on the success of the first version, which garnered Game of the Year and Technical Achievment honours at the Bafta's earlier this year.

The second edition sees the elite fighting unit, the Ghosts, battling Mexican loyalists and insurgent rebel forces on both Mexican and US soil. The Ghosts will be defending the streets of El Paso, Texas, moving on from the Mexico City scene from the first GRAW.

Ubisoft promises a groundbreaking visual experience, with cutting-edge physics and particle systems showing realistic explosions, smoke, and environmental destruction. Dynamic lighting and shadows change in real-time day and night cycles, and a constantly changing weather systems forces gamers to adapt on the fly.

Artificial Intelligence has also been improved, as squad-mate AI will feed more information to fighters with highly descriptive commands.

Cross-Com 2.0 gives players greater detail of information, so that you can see view picture-in-picture shots of what friendly forces see, and then expand it to fullscreen for a better view.

In addition, players can command air strikers from jet fighters, and replenish arms with an unmanned artillery MULE. A Medic class of soldier ensures that players can heal their team out on the battlefield.

Get ready for Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 next Spring.
