Apple has posted a rather odd teaser to its UK and US websites ahead of its MacWorld expo in San Francisco next week.

The website simply reads “The first 30 years were just the beginning. Welcome to 2007”. The image is one of the Apple logo lit up from behind against a grey background.

It's slightly reminiscent of an image posted before the unveiling of the iTunes movie store.

Blog Macworld reminds us of the last time Apple posted a pre-Macworld teaser, in 2002. The messages changed ever day, and included “This one is big. Even by our standards” and “Full speed ahead: Lust Factor Ten”.

So did Apple deliver? You decide – it unveiled the flat panel iMac, iPhoto, Mac OS X as standard, and a 14-inch iBook.

The hype is building, and the two top predictions for MacWorld include the launch of the widescreen iPod and the Apple mobile phone – although some analysts have pointed out that MacWorld is about Macs, not accessory devices.

So does Apple have some surprises in store?
