Samsung unveils world's first double-sided LCD screen
Designed for use in mobile phones

Manufacturers are warming us up to CES slowly ahead of the onslaught of new products that will be on display.
Samsung has rather proudly claimed the “world's first” title for double-sided LCDs, an example of which will be on display at – you guessed it – CES.
The new screen has the ability to display two independent images at the same time on both sides of the screen.
Samsung's new double-gate TFT architecture has two gates for operating pixels, rather than just one.
The screen will probably take the place of the two display panels that are currently used in most phones, and thereby reduce the thickness by about 1mm.
The 2.22-inch display is 2.6mm thick, and features a QVGA (240 x 320) resolution, support for 265k colours, and a 250-nit brightness on the main screen, 100-nit brightness on the second.
