Yamaha has updated its single speaker home cinema system with a new model it's announced at CES 2007 in Las Vegas.
The new speaker promises true multi-channel surround sound from a single source.
Called the YSP-1100 Digital Sound Projector, the model’s 40 built-in beam drivers and two built-in woofers, with 42 corresponding digital amplifiers, plus its streamlined design mean that you get plenty of sound without plenty of cabled.
The Sound Projector, like Denon Hi-Fi systems comes with an automated calibration system and has five selectable sound settings to allow users to choose between 5-Beam Mode, Stereo Mode, 3-Beam Mode, Stereo+3-Beam Mode and My Beam Mode.
The system is compatible with Dolby Digital, DTS, Dolby Pro Logic II, and DTS Neo:6 sound formats.
Considerably more expensive, but much more feature packed than the Philips Ambisound speaker system launched at the beginning of the week the YSP-1100 costs $1699.95 in the US and £899 in the UK.
