Sony has unveiled four new compact cameras to refresh its range for spring.

The S650, S700, W35 and W55 have many of the same features with the biggest differences being in their styling.

All boast 7.2MP, which is fast becoming the new standard, as well as 3x optical zoom and a Function Guide, which provides a useful on-screen Function Guide that describes each shooting mode.

The S-series cameras accept standard AA batteries as well as a Li MH optional battery, both of which promise up to 460 shots.

All four cameras also features High Sensitivity REI mode that boosts that ISO up to 1000 for shooting without flash indoors or in low-light conditions; they're also all bundled with with Picture Motion Browser Version 2.0.

The S700 has a 2.4-inch LCD on the back, and a silver-finish, all-metal body; the S650 has a slightly smaller, 2-inch screen, and silver-finish plastic casing. Both have 24MB of internal memory to get you started shooting.

The W35 and W55 both have metal faces, but the W55 comes in silver, black, blue, or pink, depending on your preference. They're ultra compact at only 22.9mm thick, and can therefore be kept in a handbag or pocket.

The W-series cameras also features 2cm macro mode for close-up shooting, movie mode that shoots VGA at 30fps, and a generous 56MB of internal memory.

All four models will be on sale in February.
