EA to offer game soundtracks via iTunes

Popular music to go on iTunes

NEWS: 2 March 2007 14:51 GMT by Chris Ford

From Madden NFL to Burnout, from Medal of Honour to Need for Speed - Electronic Arts has begun to offer music from its titles through Apple’s popular iTunes online download store.

EA have said tracks will be priced like any other on iTunes, available at 99 cents a piece in the US. EA already sells games like "Tetris" and "Sudoku" on iTunes for $4.99 and is searching for ways to further its sales with existing content.

Many highly respected bands including Good Charlotte, Jet, Franz Ferdinand, and Scissor Sisters have featured in EA games and a list of available music is at www.ea.com/eatrax, which links users to iTunes. (see link below)

“As our culture goes increasingly mobile, music fans have demanded to take our game music with them. They have been looking for a singular destination that houses all of EA’s music – and this is it”, says Steve Schnur, Worldwide Executive of Music and Marketing at EA.

“Our game soundtracks have now officially transcended their consoles. All songs, all mixes and all exclusives from all nations: if it’s in the game, it’s now available for fans to own. We consider this to be the next major step in evolving the music discovery experience.”
