CeBIT 2007: Linksys KiSS 1600 Networked Media Player announced Offers HDMI and internet support just like Netgear

Netgear aren't the only ones to be announcing a media streamer with HD support at CeBIT in Germany this week, Linksys has announced that it is launching the Linksys KiSS 1600 Networked Media Player.

The new Networked DVD and Media Player which can also be connected to the television via a HDMI cable promises to provide consumers with an "enhanced media experience" by bringing high definition video, audio, pictures and other forms of digital content to a user's television.

The Linksys KiSS 1600 also features a DVD player that will upscale standard definition DVDs to 720p resolution and offer wireless 802.11g and Ethernet networking capabilities.

Users will be able to access and stream media files from a PC, NAS or other devices on a home network and view the content on a television. In addition, the player is equipped with a USB port to connect, view and play content stored on external hard drives, MP3 players, USB memory sticks or digital cameras.

Video formats supported include DVD, Windows Media 9 HD, Windows Media 9, H.264/AVC, MPEG, MPEG2, MPEG4, DivX 3.11, DivX 4, DivX 5, Nero Digital, XviD, while audio formats are CD, WMA, WMA9-Pro3, AAC-LC, MP3, Ogg Vorbis.

The Linksys KiSS 1600 is now available with an estimated street price of £259.99.
