CeBIT 2007: Samsung Aura Edition laptops with Silver Nano Technology announced

Promise of bacteria free computing

NEWS: 16 March 2007 22:12 GMT by Stuart Miles

Samsung has unveiled a brand new lineup of laptops called "The Aura Editions" that it says are "designed to take Mobile Computing to a whole new level".

Aimed at the business traveller who likes to eat on the job, the laptops will feature Silver Nano Technology that will keep the keyboard and palm rest bacteria free by sprinkling incredibly small, nano-sized silver ion powder on them.

The first Aura to be released is the 14.1-inch Widescreen R20, followed by the 15.4inch Widescreen, R70 in May. The 12.1-inch Widescreen Q45 is set for release in June.

All three notebooks will include Intel Core 2 Duo mobile technology, Microsoft Windows Vista and Samsung’s own LCD displays.

The R20 will come with ATI’s powerful 1250M Xpress graphics card, while the Q45 will sport NVIDIA 8400M graphics card, HSDPA connectivity and an integrated 1.3 megapixel webcam.

The R70 will feature either a Blu-ray or HD DVD drive and HDMI enabled connectivity for connecting to a HD ready television. Like he Q45 there is an integrated 1.3 megapixel webcam and powerful NVIDIA 8400M / 8600M graphics card.

No word on pricing yet in the UK.

We will keep you posted.
