Timex WomenOnly Triathlon

30th June 2007

NEWS: 27 March 2007 17:59 GMT by Chris Hall

Timex is proud to announce that is has teamed up with Human Race for the second Timex WomenOnly Triathlon. Given that such a large number of female athletes enter these events over the year, with many more wanting to give triathlon a go, the team at Human Race decided that the girls deserve their own event.

This year's Timex WomenOnly Triathlon will be held at the 2012 Olympic Rowing Venue at Dorney Lake, Eton, on Saturday 30th June. This superb venue, with its clean flat water and closed roads, provides the ideal safe environment for multisport racing. The aim of the day is fun and enjoyment.

There are three distances available and each of them can be entered as an individual depending on how big a challenge you want. The Challenge distance can be also part of a relay team.

The distances include:
Novice: swim 200m, bike 5km, run 2.5km
Sprint: swim 400m, 20km, run 5km
Challenge: swim 800m, bike 30km, run 7.5k
Relay Challenge (2-3 people): swim 800m, bike 30km, run 7.5k

The event is open to any person who can cover the distance and is ideal for those attempting their first ever triathlon or for those that just want a new challenge.

Breast Cancer Care are the Official Charity for the Timex WomenOnly Triathlon. The WomenOnly triathlon last year was a great success and with the support of Breast Cancer Care, Human Race organisers anticipate that this year it will be even better!

Pete Hazlewood, Brand Manager Sports & Outdoors commented: "Timex are really proud to be associated with Human Race for the 2nd year in a row, such a great series of well run and beautiful events that are rarely replicated in the UK with events such as the Windsor triathlon which is a key flagship event that can be enjoyed by sports people and spectators alike. We are delighted to continue our relationship with Human Race, taking this unique
partnership into its second year highlighting our belief that woman's needs are every bit as important as men's and this event truly underlies this message".

Not only that, but Timex make some stonking triathlon-specific watches, including the world-famous Ironman range.
