Atlantic Records is encouraging its signed bands to embrace the web by allowing them to post what they are up to via their mobile phone.

Groupies around the globe will now be able to follow thier favourite artists every move with a new initative that allows artists to be able to post video clips and photos taken with camera phones onto their own websites, social network sites, and photo and video sharing communities such as YouTube.

The first UK artists to use the service will be Funeral For A Friend (FFAF), the five-piece Welsh post-hardcore band whose new album "Tales Don't Tell Themselves" is released on 14th May.

The service, which will allow bands to record every minute of their waking day from having breakfast to trashing a hotel room will automatically attach location tags to images when GPS-enabled handsets are used, providing valuable capabilities for touring artists who want their fans to be able to follow their progress on a map, quite literally.

At the moment this is only available for businesses, but could be on a phone near you in the near future.
