Medion launches its first UMPC

UMPC with extended battery life and energy saving processor

Medion has stepped into the ultra-mobile product market with its UMPC RIM 1000 range, it’s a full functioning handheld PC - not to be mistaken for a smartphone.

The device incorporates all the key Windows software, is Wi-Fi compatible and supports Bluetooth connectivity. The UMPC works on a 30GB hard disc with 768MB RAM, operating on an energy saving VIA processor for efficient power consumption with extended battery life and usability needs.

Sporting an integrated QWERTY keyboard, in addition it has a touch screen, mini track-pad and stylus. It looks as this new Medion model has everything, running on Windows Vista Home Premium Edition and able to operate all office software for mobile workers.

It also has multimedia capabilities with its entertainment system, users can browse photos, watch films, and listen to music, play games or surf the Internet. Plus it has an integrated webcam and video conferencing facility.

The product hosts HD Audio with integrate loudspeaker and a SD/SD-IO/MMC memory card reader.

The UMPC is very retro looking with its rectangular shape and a 6.5-inch touch screen monitor with LED backlight. It comes with a sliding keypad weighing 740g sizing up to 190 x 121 x 28.3mm

Priced at £799.99 and will be available from May 2007.
