Budget GPS PDA to come from Trimble

Trimble sets to cut costs for the mobile workforce

NEWS: 27 April 2007 11:59 GMT by Ryan Haynes

Trimble has taken it on itself to launch a budget model PDA for the ever-growing mobile workforce.

The Juno ST is meant to keep employees in contact, continue working and make locating much easier at a low-price. This low-price is still yet to be announced, but since it seems to be for business we assume buying in bulk may reduce the cost.

With the key features of a PDA, the outdoor worker may be kept on their toes with this device. The handheld features a 300MHz processor running on Windows Mobile 5 with a "high-sensitivity" GPS receiver.

It has wireless connectivity through Wi-Fi and Bluetooth with room for extra memory with its SD slot. The display screen is 2.8-inch with the Juno ST claiming to be especially skilled at locating a signal in "hostile environments", and we think it will work with the company's entire line of mapping and GIS software.

The Trimble model is expected in May.
