devolo launches dLAN Wireless Extender

Works with your existing electrical wiring

NEWS: 4 June 2007 13:59 GMT by Amy-Mae Elliott

devolo has launched the new dLAN Wireless extender, a home networking solution which gives you plug-and-play wireless internet access anywhere in your house.

devolo's new dLAN Wireless Extender brings together HomePlug and WLAN networking technologies in a single adaptor, which means you get high-speed networking over existing electrical wiring.

The dLAN Wireless extender plug can be used in with PCs, laptops, Macs and game consoles and gives you the ability to access and share internet resources from any room in the house via a wireless or Ethernet connection, with data transfer rates of up to 85Mbps via dLAN and 54Mbps via WLAN.

Offering easy installation, the plug-and-play adaptor is simply plugged into a wall socket and functions just like a physical network cable, ready for immediate use.

It makes use of the existing household power supply by converting any power socket in the home into an Ethernet network connection and wireless access point, without the need for any additional wiring to be installed.

The dLAN Wireless extender features WEP, WPA and WPA2 encryption over WLAN and HomePlug data transmissions protected by DESpro encryption.

The devolo dLAN Wireless extender Starter Kit (which includes a dLAN Highspeed adapter) is retailing at £139.99, or individually at £99.99.
