Alienware has launched the Hangar18 HD "Entertainment Center" in the States.

Available in various configurations (from a starting price of $1999) the top, most specced model of this monster media centre PC boasts some pretty impressive features.

This beast will sit malevolently in your sitting room and will let you watch, pause and record TV, photos and internet video, listen to music via 5.1 surround sound, wirelessly stream media and download content from the internet.

The top end model is a high definition digital video recorder with four TV tuners that will playback at 1080p via HDMI, has a hard drive of up to 2 terabytes, is also a five channel stereo receiver with built-in 1000 Watt amplifier and subwoofer output, a slot loading DVD/CD player/burner, has Bluetooth and wireless 802.11a/b/g connectivity plus about as many memory card input slots as you're ever likely to need.

Power is provided by AMD Athlon 64 x 2 dual-core processors and it has updatable AMD Live! software apps running with Windows Vista. Again, at the top end, you'll get 4GB of memory and NVIDIA graphics.

Only available in the States, you can visit the site below for all kinds of demos, stats, pics and even videos – looks like Alienware's pleased as punch with this new media behemoth.
