It's not the first invention in this area, but it is the first time such a material can heal itself multiple times without assistance, which is obviously key. It has a epoxy polymer layer that contains a liquid healing agent to rush in and repair cracks that form. The main applications for this kind of innovation would be medical, but we're thinking it might be a handy selling point for mobiles, MP3 players and other easily drop-able electronic goodies...
