Electric cars get very cool indeed with the Lightning GT

25 June 2007 12:21 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott

With design references to classic British sports cars, you know that the Lightning GT electric car is going to be a little bit different from the urban bumper-car efforts we've seen before.

The Lightning GT is made from a similar material to Formula One cars and promises 700bhp. There are three versions of the sporty electric number planned.

Due to be released in 2008, we should see a luxury model, a sports model capable of doing 0-60mph in an astonishing 4 seconds and a version with extended range that could go upto 250 miles from a 10-minute charge.

The price for one of these sexy motors is expected to be in the £150,000 range depending on model and extras – but if that sounds like a lot - don’t forget you won’t have to buy any petrol.
