Google Desktop now available for Linux users

Goobuntu

NEWS: 28 June 2007 10:35 GMT by Amy-Mae Elliott

Google has quietly announced, via the official Google Blog, that Google Deskop is now available for Linux users.

Google Desktop for Linux, like the versions for PCs and Macs, makes searching your computer as easy as searching the web with Google.

You can search for all office files, including documents and slides created with OpenOffice.org, search emails, and, as Linux is a developer's program, it boasts the ability to search source codes and information contained in .pdf, .ps, .man and .info documents

The Linux version features the Quick Search Box, which you can call up by pressing the Ctrl key twice.

You can use it in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean - and it works across many versions of Linux.

You can find a link to the free download below.
