Corsair launches Flash Padlock for secure storage

Greater security for your data

NEWS: 20 August 2007 8:24 GMT by Paul Jeremiah

Corsair is famous for their line of computer and flash memory products, and this time they have a new addition to the family known as the Flash Padlock.

Unlike other USB flash drives, it uses hardware technology instead of software to secure your data within, making it harder for malicious folks who are just dying to know what you have stored inside.

Each Flash Padlock comes with an Auto-Locking feature that does not require the user to remember to enable it - helping forgetful types keep the drive's content secure.

The moment it is removed from a computer, it will automatically lock itself out, requiring one to enter the PIN number the next time it is plugged in.

The PIN number can be up to 10 digits long, but with the sheer amount of PIN numbers and passwords that we have to remember these days, most people would probably stick to the bare minimum.

It is compatible on Windows, Mac, and Linux platforms and comes in 1GB and 2GB capacities which retail for $29.99 and $39.99 respectively.
