BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC, has signed a deal with O2.

The new mobile content deal will see programming such as "The Office", "Little Britain" and "League of Gentlemen" on users' handsets.

O2 will offer a whole range of content from the BBC shows, including video clips, wallpapers and ringtones, through its O2 Active mobile portal.

The range is to be expanded over time, but there will be more over 300 individual pieces of content available at launch.

Peter Mercier, head of mobile at the BBC Worldwide said:

"O2 is the largest UK operator by subscriber numbers so this is clearly a great deal for us in terms of getting our content in front of consumers."
