Logitech launches two ClearChat USB headsets

For VoIP calling, gaming and music

NEWS: 28 August 2007 16:18 GMT by Amy-Mae Elliott

Logitech has unveiled two new PC headsets that they claim make VoIP calling, listening to music and gaming a more comfortable and enjoyable experience.

Both the ClearChat Pro and the ClearChat Comfort headsets connect to the PC through the USB port, and claim to produce high-quality, digital audio independent of the quality of the computer’s sound card.

Logitech’s new headsets are designed for PC-Internet calling applications as well as for listening to music, watching movies or playing games on the PC.

Logitech ClearChat Pro is for "people who demand high-performance audio in addition to comfort".

The headset features proprietary laser-tuned audio drivers. In addition, the headset includes the Logitech SoundSwitch equalizer, a headset-based switch that instantly optimizes audio performance for the three most common headset activities: PC-Internet calling, music listening and gaming.

The PC calling mode accentuates the human voice. For PC playlists and internet radio, the music mode provides a "well-balanced" sound. And the gaming mode enhances gaming audio, increasing the level of realism.

Located on the headset, the controls for the ClearChat Pro headset give people quick access to volume and mute functions.

For a more personal fit, the headset features an adjustable noise-canceling microphone with a flexible boom that easily adjusts to the desired distance from the mouth.

As an added convenience, the microphone boom emits a soft, red glow when muted so users can be confident no one else can hear them speaking.

Logitech ClearChat Comfort offers "exceptional comfort" and features a padded headband and plush ear pads. The headband and microphone are easily adjustable for each individual user. The headset is equipped with in-line volume and mute controls.

Both headsets work with popular PC Internet calling applications, including Skype, Windows Live, Yahoo and AIM.

The Logitech ClearChat Pro USB and Logitech ClearChat Comfort USB headsets are expected to be available in the US in September and in Europe in October. The Pro will be $49.99 and the Comfort will cost $39.99 in the States - we're still waiting on UK pricing.
