IFA 2007: Sharp launch new XL2E and X20E TVs

1080p, 24p and 3 HMDI for acronym loving fans

Sharp has launched a new range of AQUOS LCD televisions at IFA 2007 in Berlin Germany.

Although not as thin as the company's prototype model announced at the same time the new XL2E series models will come three sizes of 42-, 46- and 52-inches, offer 100Hz technology and be Full HD (1080p) Ready.

The new models are also 24p, the new buzzword from IFA this year. 24p standing for 24 images per second is the same speed you get in the cinema.

The televisions also offer a contrast value of 10,000:1 for dynamic measurement or 2000:1 in panel contrast, built-in DVB-T tuner and an analogue tuner as well as a YUV connection, VGA input and three HDMI connections. Sound wise and the new models all feature SRS tru Surround.

All the TVs in the new series; the LC-42XL2E, the LC-46XL2E and the LC-52XL2E will be available later this year. Prices have not yet been determined.

Sharp has also announced the launch of five new 1080p TVs apart of the X20E series. The new models will come in 32-inch, 37-inch, 42-inch, 46-inch and 52-inch models.

Like the XL2E series the televisions will sport 1,080 pixels and full 24p compatibility.

All of the TVs have over three HDMI inputs with HDCP for connection to HD sources, two scart connections, a YuV connection and a slot for CI cards to receive pay TV.

The five new Full HD AQUOS models LC-32X20E, LC-37X20E, LC-42X20E, LC-46X20E and LC52-X20E are promised for the end of the year. Prices, Pocket-lint has been told will be announced by the manufacturer in the next few weeks.
