IFA 2007: Toshiba launches Regza Z LCD televisions in Europe

"The ultimate in LCD technology"

NEWS: 2 September 2007 10:41 GMT by Amy-Mae Elliott

Toshiba added to its Regza line-up at IFA 2007 with the European launch of the Regza Z series, Toshiba's most technologically advanced collection of LCD TV panels to date.

Available from September 2007, the Regza Z series offers Full 1080p HD display as a standard across the entire range.

Each panel will also have Toshiba's Active Vision M100HD 100Hz Picture processing. This claims to improve image clarity by inserting an intermediate image between frames and doubling the overall image refresh rate, even for PAL and NTSC broadcasts.

10-Bit colour processing and Dynamic Gamma Curve Correction technology should improve tones while a wide colour gamut means colour palette display capabilities up to 98% of required colours, compared to the 85% reproduction ratio of a standard LCD TV.

Dynamic Contrast Ratios ranging from 6500:1 to 15,000:1 depending on the model, help to deliver the deeper blacks and the brighter whites by actively controlling the LCD backlight.

The Z series can display at 24 frames per second which is the rate at which movies are filmed, meaning you get closer to seeing a film in the way in which it was shot.

Audio is provided via the Onkyo Speaker System, which boasts enhanced audio projection and every model has an integrated digital tuner as standard.

The connectivity of the Z series includes 3 HDMI inputs, Component Video, S Video and SCART. The HDMI inputs are compatible with Toshiba's Regza Link (CEC) technology which offers one-remote interactivity with all other Regza Link devices.

The Z series will come in five sizes, from 37, 42, 47 and 52 through to the company's largest to date 57-inches, all will have a gloss black exterior. Pricing to be confirmed.
