Palm has confirmed a date for a new Palm smartphone that is launching in the UK later this month.

Expected to be the much rumoured Palm Centro, Palm announced the date on its website as part of a competition to win one of the new devices it says is "great for email, mobile internet, instant messaging, text and - with a full keyboard - saying what you really mean".

Palm is encouraging people to "Sign up now" to be "the first to know all about the latest cool phone from Palm on 12th September 2007".
