23 July 2007 - Logitech has launched a brand new mouse for its business travelling users, but has the new mouse got what it takes to make working on the go easy? Pocket-lint was given early access to the mouse ahead of the UK announcement.

There are two types of travel mice; the ones that slip into your PC Express Card Slot, and the ones that look like mini versions of your everyday model.

Taking comfort as the forbearer of any design, Logitech has created the VX Nano to be a sort of miniature version of other mice it offers in the range.

Following on from the The Logitech VX Revolution Mouse launched last year, Logitech has once again opted to make sure this mouse is ideal for laptop users.

The design is compact and simple and includes a slot to store the 2.4GHz micro-receiver, making it more portable.

Not that you'll need a slot mind you, as the USB wireless dongle is so small that you'll probably not have to worry about taking it out of your PC when it comes to packing it away (see image).

The move to include such a miniature dongle will appeal to those who haven't made the transition to a Bluetooth-sporting laptop.

Back to the mouse and there are five buttons to play with making this certainly more functional than most. Rather than just offer you five ways of going backwards and forwards there is also a One-Touch Search button that allows people to select a word or phrase on a Web page or in a document and, with a single click, view internet search results on that subject.

However where the mouse differs from most is its scroller. Like the MX Revolution before it the VX Nano features the same MicroGear Precision Scroll Wheel that allows you to spin your wheel and therefore your pages freely for up to seven seconds like a miniature wheel of fortune.

In practice and it makes scrolling through large documents or spreadsheets a whole lot easier and like the MX Revolution works a treat.

VERDICT
With a promised battery life of 6 months from 2 AAA batteries and a carry fabric pouch to store it in this is a neat little mouse to take on business.

It isn't as small as the MoGo from Newton Peripherals, however it will offer more comfort and more features for your money.
