Review: Works perfectly, very easy to connect. We nearly didn't connect to orange as the guide to what you need stated an ethernet connection was essential. This isn't true, just a wireless laptop connection is fine.
Pros: Doddle to install, physical installation plus connecting two laptops took 30 minutes maximum.
Cons: Some ambigous instructions for setting up. Had a couple of screens from the CD setup that stated they failed, but trying a second time without changing anything worked. One laptop lost it's WEP code on reboot, used Dell wireless utility to re-enter WEP code and it was retained.
Score: 9/10

Review: Having had nothing but problems with my Internet connection (Speedtouch 330) since Orange took over from Wanadoo, I called them for my MAC code. They made me a very attractive offer (discounted monthly subscription, free upgrade to live livebox and no new contract or restrictions) - so I decided to give them a go. And I'm glad I did. It took about a half hour to get the Livebox set up (Ethernet connection), but since I did my connection has been rock solid, and connected at the maximum speed available on my line (6 Meg - well, 6.1 if you want to be picky). Since this was pretty much just a hardware upgrade there was no waiting for activation, and the Talk package was active and working the next day. I did have to call tech support for an answer to a configure problem (though this was a Windows problem rather than a specific livebox issue), and whilst they couldn't give me the definitive answer, they did get me on the right track and the issue is now solved. This was a considerable improvement over any previous contact that I've had to make. I haven't tried the wireless yet, and I dare say the fun will start if and when I do, though it's not on my list of priorities at the moment. With a heavy tower and a desk full of peripherals, a wired connection in a fixed location is more than enough (and probably more reliable than wireless). So at the moment I've disabled wireless on the box, anyway. The setup documentation is limited, though it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out. All in all, my initial impressions are good, and the improvement over the speedtouch is not just in the reporting, but is genuinely noticeable in day-to-day use. I'd have no problems recommending this package to anyone.

Review: Having put off connecting the Livebox for several weeks, just knew it would be a hassle, I decided to have a go this week. Hey Presto! Everything went so smoothly, connected both the desktop PC and Laptop via Ethernet cable, plugged in a phone and everything worked like a dream. Next day I decided to connect the Laptop via wireless, through my Belkin Wireless Card. Oh Dear! This was the nightmare I was dreading. Really poor advice from the Helpline, those people appear to have only the stock answers from a basic handbook. Finally did it. hope this helps other readers. The Livebox transmits both WEP and WPA signals, but customers are only given the WEP key, (printed on the box and on the bottom of the Livebox.) The Wireless Card was confused as it could read both WEP and WPA so kept on asking for the WPA key as this is the most secure, solution. Open up the configuration facility on the Livebox (through the desktop icon), scroll down to security and select WEP only. Re enter the WEP key into the Wireless card utility. "Lights flashing", "Hard Drive Buzzing", YOU'RE CONNECTED!!!!! So simple when you know how. I can only assume the helpline people do not tell us this because they want us to buy their wireless unit which must read both WEP & WPA . Go on, give it a try.

Review: I have just got the live box; I set it up through an Ethernet cable. I did a line speed test and found it was running slower than my speed touch modem. Does anyone know how to set up outlook express with it as I have tried and can't get it to work?

Review: I think that the LiveBox is quite a nice piece of work and so I would recommend it to others. The only problem I had at the start was trying to get it past a problem about a firewall but I soon sorted that out. I also agree with one of you that the customer service is abit rubbish.

Review: Partly with the advice here I can now send emails from Outlook if using the SMTP server from Wanadoo and set the "reply to" as my preferred mail account. No complaints it's working really well at the moment.

Review: I am an existing customer of Wanadoo and transferred from a USB modem to Livebox. I had no difficulties in connecting a desktop and two laptops to the internet and to get the VOIP connection working. The connection works very well and I am pleased with it. However, I have been very frustrated when trying to set up a wireless network and share files and printers. Wanadoo have been no help at all.

Review: Jeremy, This review site may be out of date now, but I found this site because I'm trying to find out if I can use the talk box as a WiFi print server, connecting the printer to the box (if any one knows how to do this please let me know). But I wanted to let you know in case you have not worked it out yet that you don’t need to use the rubbish USB thing Wanadoo give you. You do need to use it to configure the talk box so it knows your username and password but once that is done you can dump the dongle and use the Centrino connection (you will have to enter the wep key).

Review: I’ve got a LiveBox which took ages to set up on my wireless laptop. Then I had loads of problems with it! One being, it always disconnecting. One question I have though is "what are all the connections on it for?"

Review: The wireless internet connection is good and I have not encountered any problems. However I have yet to be connected to the 'talk' function. I have been waiting almost 5 months, making countless phone calls and letters but still nothing. I have many problems with their customer support and I am not very happy about there service. It's a shame because it could have a potential for a good package but I would not recommend this ISP to anyone.

Review: It seems to cost an awful lot to connect to a livebox wireless and talk phone number from a discounted call from overseas (see my location)!

Review: Anyone tried wirelessly connecting a wifi-enabled pocket PC to the Livebox? I've just spent two days trying, but not succeeding. The pocket PC picks up the Wanadoo signal, but is unable to make a connection to the Livebox!

Review: Contrary to Jeremy's comments, I set up a Livebox for my father this week, and the first thing I did before plugging anything into his laptop was test the secured WiFi connection from my own Dell Centrino laptop. I keyed in the WPA key from the sleeve of the setup CD, and was browsing within seconds. I've since set up two desktop machines over Ethernet and my father set up his own Acer laptop with the USB dongle using the supplied software. All work very well. Also, if you want to send mail with Wanadoo, use their outgoing mail servers instead of Yahoo’s. The capped usage aside, I’m very impressed. The Livebox is a very nice, very capable piece of kit.

Review: First of all, you can use every WLAN device you have. You just have to do the installation with the implemented WLAN wired USB adapter once to activate the box in router mode, but after that, there is no need whatsoever to use this wired USB device. Just install your other WLAN as you would do it normally on you PC, press the "1"-button at the back of the Box to activate MAC-filtering input and connect within 10 minutes with your own WLAN card to get an entry to the MAC filtering...after that, it always works. I am currently running two third party cards without any problems, one under Debian Sarge Linux (!), one under Win XP! Speed is incredible good, who cares about capped accessibility, just have an eye on it. It is automatically encrypted and MAC restricted. It’s great.

Review: An excellent piece of kit, hooked up with the LLU 8 meg trial in Leeds I signed up for, it works a treat. Over all I think the costing is almost fair, the extra £4 after 6 months depends really on how much you use the phone, mobile costs seem competitive and the fact that its wireless is groovy. Also rumour has it that the download limits are to be scrapped in the next 12 months, maybe when Wanadoo changes to Orange, it could also though, as said, be just a rumour. Personally if Wanadoo/Orange were to rid customers of the download limit, this would be an awesome package.

Review: Service on my low end PC is often slow to connect. I have been through extended periods of dropped lines and connect failures. Right now it's ok. When it’s connected the performance is good. It’s infuriating that you cannot use native wireless access from a laptop to connect but need to use the Wanadoo adapter which is on the end of a cable - not ideal. Thought they said no wires? Plus you only get one adapter. I used to use Outlook to connect to YAHOO POP and SMTP mail. Unfortunately with Wanadoo I cannot send mail, only receive, which is apparently an anti spamming measure. Annoying is what I call it. Looks great but there are some serious usability issues!
