Welcome to the new look Pocket-lint.co.uk

Kodak V570 dual lens digital camera - EXCLUSIVE Kodak's latest camera doesn't promise a huge optical lens that is capable of zooming in on the action, but two lenses. But are two lenses better than one? Pocket-lint was given exclusive access 1 month before the launch of the camera to have a look.

Review: If you know anything about lens optics you would clearly understand why Kodak have tried this. A fixed focal length lens is inherently better than a zoom and trying to include the wide-angle end of the zoom increases the optical aberrations that lens manufacturers have to deal with. It's not a matter of being the "long way around"! Having a series of fixed focal length lenses rather than one zoom to cover the whole range is the option many pro photographers take to achieving the best image quality. Kodak is simply trying to adopt a similar approach but built into a fixed lens compact p&s. Good lateral thinking, in my view.
