Review: I would agree with the staff reviewer in total. To take a book of this magnitude, the first of 3, and try to jam it into a film this short is to completly disrespect the the whole concept of the story. In the book,(and audio book) the reader is transported into a world created by Christopher Paolini that is full of interesting charactors, magic, drama and excitement.Because of the lack of time for plot and character development, the intricate weaving of relationships and historical facts that are the integral and necessary building blocks of this wonderful story, are completley lost.Watch it if you must, but if you have never read the book or listened to the unabridged audio book - go forth and read,(or listen), these will be some of the best quality, escapism laden hours you will spend this year.
Pros: It was named Eragon - marketing therefore possibly making someone who has not seen this film pick up the book in a bookstore.
Cons: Massive blocks of history and story missing, intricate details - those that made the Lord Of the Rings Trilogy such a wonderful and epic tale nearly completley ignored - all for the sake of badly portraying 100 minutes of cheap thrills.
Score: 2/10
