Review: Have had this phone for a couple of months now. Yes, it's smart and stylish, but it has had a few problems...
There's a 'Profiles' function provided. I say "function" loosely, based on the following. If you set any of the message tones to anything other than their defaults whilst on one profile, then change profile (say from Normal to Outdoor), when you revert back to the first profile, the tone has reverted back to default. A minor bug, but annoying, and not the way I'd expect a 'Profile' to function. I'd go as far as say it rather defeats the purpose of the 'Profiles' function entirely. (Strangely enough, this doesn't seem to affect your choice of ringtone for incoming calls, although if you want to have the phone vibrate, then this function will "default" back to off in the normal profile if you change profiles as above.)
The contacts list structure is very rigid, in that you can't change the preference for the list order (first name, last name, whatever.)
Texting is a complete pain, if you prefer T9 that is at least. The drop down list for word selection can change between scroll down to scroll up, has NO wrap around, and a very short time-out. If you try and scroll the wrong way, or are just too slow, the list will disappear, and you'll find yourself having to try the word again.
The membrane type keypad is, or at least appears to be, quite error prone if your input speed is reasonably fast.
The touch buttons on the front ARE uber-sensitive, and I've 'lost' numerous calls when pulling the phone out of my pocket.
The suppiled software okay, as far as that sort of thing goes, but if you want to edit your phonebook and then transfer some mp3's to the memory card, then you'll have to disconnect the phoneand re-connect in a different mode. (I suspect the flimsy little dust cap for the charger/usb connector won't last for the "lifespan" of the phone.
Camera is very good, but REALLY REALLY SLOW. This rather spoils the functionality of the camera considerably. Not any real use for 'snapshots', as it's not "snappy" enough!
Do I like the phone - Mostly.
Would I recommend it - Not particularly.
Would I pick a different phone given the chance - almost certainly.
(I'm currently awaiting delivery of a replacement handset from my SP, on the basis of the 'bugs' described. I'll consider amending this review if there are no problems with the next handset)
Pros: Slim, stylish, good looking phone.
Cons: Camera way too slow to be practical, functionality is a bit "buggy"

Review: Brilliant phone. Ive had it just over a week and i love it! I was originally going to go for an E900 but im so glad i went for the U600. Smooth, ultra slim slider (you wont believe how thin it is until you see it), sleek design and really excellent functions. Yes the battery life is not as good as other phones but that might be because you can't put it down!! Touch sensitive keys are great but i think are better suited to women rather than men. I loved the motorola that i had before this and was worried about the change-over but i had nothing to worry about, i'll definitely stay with Samsung for my next phone. - buy this phone, you'll not regret it.
