Review: have been using the Creative Zen V MP3 player, since Christmas.
This is the 1GB version, of the V Plus.
I have found it a very good player. The sound is excellent. The size is about right, and being able to use the small screen to highlight which song I wish to listen to is a huge bonus. So I would say, this is a very worthwhile listening experience. The playback option is user friendly, as indeed, is most of the menu. I found the graphics clear enough, and there is a choice of screen savers, which does enhance the whole experience. With this particular Zen model there is no video option, but I did not want that anyway. I can download from the computer my pictures, and these store well on the player, and are quite presentable when viewed.
I found the download of songs from CD option, very speedy. In fact, the software once installed on the computer, can rip the songs direct from the CD, to the player. Without having to refer to another page.
The only drawer back, I have had, since first switching it on, is that it crashed out, in shutdown mode. Nothing could be activated.
So I emailed the Creative help page, on their home web page. Stated my problem with the player, asked for advice, politely, and left my email address. Sadly I have received no reply.
What I did find is that the crashing problem, this time at least, resolved itself. As the player could not be switched off, overnight the battery ran down. Consequently, it rectified the fault. I was able to plug it into my USB port on the computer charge it up, and it has been fine since.
Pros: Sound, size, screen, graphics, user-friendly
Cons: no direct feedback, in anwser to my email, from the Crative support, when needed, on the one occasion I would have liked it. Since then, anyway, the fault rectified itself, fortunately.
Score: 7/10
