Review: I don't like digital cameras! I own a Canon F1 and a Mamiya RB67 which are both manual everything cameras and built like tanks. But digital has its uses and after wading through all the reviews, I bought a A200 three weeks ago. The instruction manual is 170 pages but it is worth investing the time reading it before you do any serious work. This camera really is a gem and has been designed by people who take pictures instead of examining pixels at 500% magnification. What I like about it is the manual over-rides on every function. A really neat idea is a manual flash reduction setting, so you can use the on-camera flash as a fill light to fire studio strobes. The colours are very faithful and they too can be dialled up or down in-camera. A few reviews questioned the sharpness of images and because of this I increased the in-camera sharpness during the first few days of use and consequently wasted some shots. A lot of the default settings are spot on. The image stabilised, 28-200 lens is excellent and the ability to shoot RAW and JPEG at the same time suits me. With a Lexar 1 GB card, images are recorded very quickly. The camera is a little small for me and I think would cause problems wearing gloves. I don't like having to take the battery out to charge it. All in all I am very pleased with this camera. Will I give up film? NO WAY. But it is a lot of fun and I have taken a lot of shots that I would not have taken with my film cameras. Check it out - you won't be disappointed. And if you need a 28mm lens, remember that many of the Canon, Nikon and Olympus cameras start at 35mm.
